1993 to Present
This painting beautifully captures the quiet serenity and warmth of an afternoon playing cards and drinking tea. However, the mischievous glint in the subject's eye belies the tranquility of the scene.
The teacups and the shadows they cast on the card table bring to mind the iconic images of pies and jars of cold cream and lipstick made famous by Wayne Thiebaud. Like Thiebaud, the artist concentrates deeply on color, composition, shapes, space and light.
