1993 to Present
The woman symbolizes Mother Nature in the springtime: radiating from her arms like bolts of electricity are the budding branches of a tulip magnolia; her dress is made from the gossamer wings of butterflies; insects are sucking nectar from her body as a bird is perched on her head with its wings outstretched as if sunning itself.
Birds, butterflies, flowers, snails, mushrooms and other elements from nature are commonplace in the artist's prints and paintings. While there are a few prints in which nature is the sole subject, most of the pieces include man or woman harmoniously co-exisiting with nature.
There is also a painting of this same image.
2002 Linoleum Block Print. Hand carved & printed on Japanese Mulberry paper. Unframed.
